Obituary for Sister Mary Agatha, MICM
Still River-Sister Mary Agatha, MICM, née Edith Frances Seavey, 90, Sister of Saint Benedict Center, Slave of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 28, 2017. She is survived by generations of nieces and nephews, her Sisters and Brothers of St. Benedict Center, and many dear friends. She is preceded in death by two sisters, Lenita Collins and Dorothy Gartland.
Sister Mary Agatha was born in Chelsea to the late Alfred & Emma (Henry) Seavey. She graduated from the Chelsea High School, Class of 1946 and continued her studies at Saint Benedict Center, Cambridge, MA. Sister was a founding member of the Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in Cambridge in 1949. Sister Mary Agatha devoted her life to Christ and His Blessed Mother for nearly 70 years and shared her brilliant sense of humor, her lovely singing voice and her delicious cooking with her Community and countless others. Calling hours will be held from 3 until 7PM on Monday, January 1, 2018 at the Sisters of St. Benedict Center, St. Ann’s House, 254 Still River Rd., Still River. A Requiem Mass will be offered at 10AM on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at the Sisters of St. Benedict Center, St. Ann’s Chapel, 254 Still River Rd., Still River. Burial will later be held in the St. Benedict Center Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton.
