Obituary for Janice Day (Alzapiedi)

Janice Day (Alzapiedi)
Sterling-Janice M. (Alzapiedi) Day, 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 11, 2017 at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, following a brief illness. She is survived by her beloved husband George T. Kittredge; her children, Kimberly Whitley and husband James of West Boylston; Karen Hooper of Sterling; and Major James H. Day, US Army (Ret.) of Maryland. She leaves her sister, Mary Jean Kilcoyne and husband Robert of Clinton; her grandchildren, Alyssa and Laurel Whitley, Nathan McCauley, US Air Force, stationed in Georgia, and Emma Hooper of Sterling. She leaves her step-children, Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Rutland, and her children, Thomas and Sean Fitzpatrick; and Jean Bernard & husband Charles, and their children, Timothy, Lauren, Kayleigh, and Brendan Bernard; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
Janice was born in Clinton to the late James A. & Elizabeth Jean (Hay) Alzapiedi. She graduated from the Nashoba Regional High School, Class of 1965, and obtained her undergraduate degree and Master’s degree in Elementary Education from Fitchburg State College. Janice enjoyed her 30 year career as a teacher in the Clinton Public School System before retiring. She spent summers in Wells, Maine and was an avid reader. Jan loved playing games with her grandchildren and spending time in the company of her family. Funeral services are to be held on Monday, October 16, 2017 from the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11AM at St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster. Calling hours will be held in the funeral home from 4 until 7PM on Sunday, October 15, 2017.
