Obituary for Franklin Carpenter

Lancaster-Franklin Garrett Carpenter, 64, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 20, 2017. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Jeri Ann Meyers; their children, Jamie Renee Carpenter and Lincoln Parker Carpenter; and two grandchildren, Sebastian and Jacoby, all of Lancaster.
Frank was born in West Ruslip, Great Britain, only child of the late Nelson & Joan (Collis) Carpenter. He was raised and educated in the Ballston Lake/Burnt Hills area of New York and later relocated to the Boston area. He eventually settled in Lancaster where he and his wife Jeri Ann built their own home and raised their family. Frank worked as an optical technician for several companies including Corning Medical, Coulter Biomedical Research, and PTR Optics, now Optometrics, before changing careers and becoming a self-employed carpenter. As a talented woodworker, perfectionist, and master finish carpenter, Frank established, owned, and operated Nashoba CNC and the Technical Craftsmen in Clinton for 20+ years. He was a self-taught eccentric and a fierce individualist. He was an active member of the Audio Karma group and a proud supporter of the ACLU. Frank enjoyed ocean sailing with his wife Jeri Ann and friends in the Atlantic and Pacific. He lived a simple lifestyle as an ardent left-winger. He enjoyed the pleasures of reading, listening to music, gardening, woodworking, and the outdoors. Frank was an intellectual who was always trying new things: beekeeping, beer-making, growing mushrooms, raising pigs, and smoking meat. Frank will be forever missed as a dedicated husband, father, and loving grandfather. Calling hours will be held from 12 until 2PM on Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Funeral Service to follow at 2PM.
